Rose Cottage is a fully equipped self catering "Guest House & B&B” nestled in the heart of the Karoo.
The establishment is divided into eight units, of which 3 are situated on one premise. These units are known as HAMMERKOP, a fully equipped guesthouse (sleeps up to 8 guests) and two smaller self contained units that have been fitted out with a kitchenette and have a private bathroom or shower.
These are known as ROOIBEKKIE (sleeps 2) and SWALLOW (sleeps 4). Blue crane (sleeps up to 6 guests) are situated on its own premise and Suikerbekkie (sleeps 6) and Mossie (sleeps 2) are on the same grounds. Fish Eagle (sleeps 6) and Seagull (sleeps 2) are also on the same premises. All units have a colourful brochure which gives you information on where to eat, what to see, supermarkets etc. You will be pre-allocated to one of these suitable units.
HAMMERKOP 14 Hammerkop Street Gariep Dam Each unit has got a private Lapa and braai area and secure undercover parking. Units are also equipped with colour TV’s and Samsung Air conditioners. At Hammerkop, a long Stoep overlooks the pool and garden featuring 18 beautiful long stem roses and huge trees with lush garden and romantic swing Enjoy a "Sun-downer” in our garden Lapa while watching the wild birds feed or relax with a novel while listening to the silence & breathing the crisp Karoo Air. Please note that we have a strict NON SMOKING and NO PET policy in all units! Although Rose Cottage is in the Gariep Dam village and only 5 minutes away from the dam, there is no direct view of the dam.
SWALLOW This unit can accommodate 4 guests. It consists of 2 separate bedrooms. The main bedroom consists of a double bed and an on-suite bathroom (shower, basin & toilet) and the 2nd bedroom consists of 2 single beds with an open plan kitchen, dining room, Hi-Fi, T.V and 2 sliding doors that leads out to the private braai area, four-seater Lapa and a private bathroom. (shower and toilet only). Large Rhodesian "brass” pictures decorate the one room Single Air conditioned services this unit Secure undercover parking. Access to main complex, pool and romantic swing, all under lush garden. Please note that we have a strict NON SMOKING and NO PET policy in all units! ROOIBEKKIE Our Bachelor Unit which can accommodate 2 guests. It consists of 2 single beds that form a double bed with an open plan fully equipped kitchenette. T.V and large on-suite bathroom with a "sea mural” on the wall. The bathroom consists of a bath, toilet and basin. Rooibekkie has got its own private braai area and a quaint two-seater, romantic "Lapa”. Theme of this unit is "honey oak” furniture and kitchenette with painting by Lloyd Thompson Single Air conditioned services this unit Secure undercover parking. Access to main complex, pool and romantic swing, all under lush garden. Please note that we have a strict NON SMOKING and NO PET policy in all units! BLUE CRANE: 18 Berghaan Street Gariep Dam Consisting of 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a family-styled lounge and a huge entertainment-styled area with indoor braai and adjoining kitchen. Main bedroom consists of a Queen size double bed, air-con and a huge on-suite bathroom Although there is no swimming pool on the premises, the unit is air conditioned and the swimming pool at the main Rose Cottage complex (Just 500m away), can be used. Lush garden with lots of fruit trees, manicured lawn with "fyn tuin” flowers. All paintings are by John Burton TV with DSTV "Easy View” channels in brand new lounge, paintings by "John Burton” This is the owner’s favourite unit. He says it feels like "home away from home” Garage parking. Please note that we have a strict NON SMOKING and NO PET policy in all units! SUIKERBEKKIE: 6 Hammerkop Street Gariep Dam. This is the newest unit to our Rose Cottage croup of establishments, situated only 6 houses away from the main Rose Cottage complex. Suikerbekkie - consisting of 3 rooms, a single bath/shower and separate toilet. The rest of the house features a separate kitchen combined dining area and separate lounge. Garage Parking, braai facilities, Flat screen TV with DSTV "Easy View” channels in brand new lounge, paintings by "John Burton” Suikerbekkie is a self standing, fully equipped house with "kraal” type braai area and 8 seater Lapa. Romantic,18 solar lights all around the "picket fence” come on at night to give you that extra special evening atmosphere. Although there is no swimming pool on the premises, the unit is air conditioned and the swimming pool at the main Rose Cottage Complex (only 6 houses away) can be used. MOSSIE – 6 Hammerkop Street, Gariep Dam This flat-let can accommodate 2 Adults. Mossie is a "very small " but quaint bachelor unit, furnished with a small mini-oven, fridge, kettle and toaster and are perfect for the travelling guest. and only suitable for a single night stay-over. Mossie has a single air-con as well as a "remote controlled” roof fan This unit is given at a discounted rate due to its small size, guests should be aware that it’s a single room unit, without all the frills, clean and neat with all new beds, linen and equipment. Flat screen TV with DSTV "Easy View” channels Stepping outside your will find a quaint two-seater lapa and you will find braai facilities on the premises. FISH EAGLE 1 Hammerkop Street Gariep Dam. Lovely self standing 3-bedroom house that sleeps six people, it features an arid "Karoo” theme. Fully furnished, and equipped with all brand new beds, linen and furniture, everything that you might need for a self-catering stay. "Lovely and comfortable.” Open plan lounge and dining room that leads out onto a stoep with braai and outside tables and chairs. There is an 8 seater Lapa right next to the braai area Large pictures from "Frame Art” in all rooms and lounge Flat screen TV with DSTV "Easy View” channels Although there is no swimming pool on the premises, the unit is air conditioned and the swimming pool at the main Rose Cottage Complex (only 8 houses away) can be used. SEAGULL Our Bachelor Unit which can accommodate 2 guests. It consists of 2 single beds that form a double bed with an open plan fully equipped kitchenette. It features an arid "Karoo” theme Seagull has got its own private braai area and a quaint two-seater, romantic "Lapa”. Large pictures from "Frame Art” in all rooms and lounge Single Air conditioned services this unit. Secure undercover parking. Access to main complex, pool and romantic swing, all under lush garden at main Rose Cottage Complex can be used, only 8 houses away. This lovely unit consists of a bedroom, open kitchen and separate shower and toilet. The unit has got a separate cane furnished lounge with flat screen TV with DSTV "Easy View” channels Please note that we have a strict NON SMOKING and NO PET policy in all units! Although Rose Cottage is in the Gariep Dam village and only 5 minutes away from the dam, there is no direct view of the dam. Breakfasts, if required, can be arranged with John Burton (072 342 8321) at least 24 hours in advance, at an additional cost of R55.00 pp This is NOT included in the tariff.
Rose Cottage imposes the following policy regarding cancellations: · Cancellations made on bookings not yet paid for, 48 hours or less before arrival date, would be subjected to full payment. · Cancellations made on paid bookings, will result in Rose Cottage issuing a voucher for the amount paid, valid for a period of one year. · Regret NO refunds
Directions: The turnoff is about 44 km’s North of Colesberg or 180 km’s South of Bloemfontein on the N1. Clearly marked "Gariep Dam, Bethulie” Turn off take the Gariep Dam road. Village is 5 km’s from N1 turnoff. Remember to phone Anien about 20 minutes out!!!

Awesome experience!! Supermarkets: There are well stocked supermarkets and bottle stores at Gariep. Please note that they close at around 7 pm weekdays and 6 pm on Sundays
