A Really Different Sort of Wine Shop offering an unusual wine-tasting-cum-eating experience. Tastings are presented daily on Cape Wines, until our maiden vintage, locally brewed beer and South African craft cheeses. To accompany our famous traditional ‘Wood-Fried’ gourmet Pizzas and ‘Tapas Platters’ of cold cuts, local smoked trout, chicken liver pâté, Calamata olives, marinated mushrooms, cheeses & freshly bake breads is a completely different take on the conventional wine-by-the-glass order favoured by so many, with a selection of at least 10 South African wines to choose from; plus Cape Ports, Estate Brandies & Grappas to accompany the coffee grown and roasted on the farm next door. For the sweet tooth ‘Gooey’ Chocolate Brownies and traditional Malva Pudding serve with thick farm cream.
Way out on the Wine Route we have planted South Africa’s most northerly Wine Vineyard, here in Big Five Country. So the Windmill Wine Shop will eventually include home-grown-and-made Hazyview Wines.
Things to Do & See. In the direction of Hazyview is Big Five Country with the world-renowned Kruger National Park. With three gates to choose from on our door step makes easy access to the magic found within the park. We can advise you; whether it’s a self drive exploration or an organized open vehicle safari, night drive or walking safari. In the direction of Sabie is the Panorama Route including Blyde River Canyon (the largest Green canyon in the world), God’s Window, Burke’s Luck Potholes, picturesque waterfalls and the historical Gold mining town of Pilgrims Rest. Organized tours can be arranged. Our ‘Sabie River Valley’ is the adventure capital of South Africa. There are things to do from Mild to Wild: hot air ballooning, horse riding, quad bike trails, river rafting and more……..can be arranged.
